By the end of last academic year, many headteachers and trust leaders were saying that the leadership of schools had become the most challenging it had ever been.
- Managing school budgets which don’t stretch to meet the need,
- Recruitment and retention challenges,
- Underfunding and a lack of support for children with SEND and other children with disadvantages,
- Increasing incidents of challenging behaviour from children and young people with complex needs,
- Poor attendance,
- Weak local authority services, in some areas,
- A lack of confidence in OFSTED inspection process.
All these have combined to make the educational context extremely difficult in 2024.
Since then, leaders have benefitted from a summer holiday, which, I hope has allowed heads to rest and recover. However, I remain curious about how headteachers are mitigating the impact of these challenges this year.
🤔 How are you managing these difficult times?
🤔 What strategies are you using to navigate these stormy waters?
Please share any advice. I’d love to hear from you.
I know that my clients have found that spending some time each half term with a leadership coach can be a really helpful strategy for surviving and thriving during challenging times.
I still have a couple of places available for my school leaders 2024 – 2025 coaching programme. You could benefit from six sessions of coaching over the year from as little as £750. Please DM me for more information or to book a FREE discovery call.
