Doing more with less?

An image of Claire Platt with a question - are you a headteacher who is feeling frazzled and exhausted?

  • Are you a headteacher who is feeling frazzled and exhausted?

  • Are you working hard to maintain a positive culture, while nurturing the wellbeing of your staff, when you are feeling depleted yourself?

  • Are you spending too much of your energy on managing within a stretched system, resulting in not being able to focus enough of your time and attention on school improvement?

Then this is the right post for you!

When times are challenging, it is even more essential that you maintain your wellbeing so that you can navigate leadership decisions and obstacles with courage, integrity, resilience and optimism.  If you chose to be coached with me, I will nurture your wellbeing, while also providing support for your leadership challenges.  A programme of six, half-termly coaching sessions costs only £600 for a year.  What’s your wellbeing worth?

It’s been another one of the most challenging years ever in school leadership, with budget cuts really biting, meaning lots of headteachers are having to either not replace staff who are leaving, or are having to go through a stressful restructure.  Confidence in OFSTED seems like it is at an all-time low, resulting in additional stress when in an inspection window. Additionally, local authority services are increasingly stretched for children with the greatest needs, so schools are having to meet children’s complex SEND and social care needs with less resource and support.

Over the course of the last year, I have worked with a number of Headteachers who are working extremely diligently to find a solution to these issues.  Whether they are in trusts, or are leading maintained schools, the themes have been the same.  How do you do more with less?  Many of the headteachers have described the impact on their own wellbeing, with some being kept awake at night worrying about work-related issues, while others are feeling really anxious, but don’t feel that they can do anything to make things any better.
