Does saying 'yes' to others cause you to say 'no' to yourself?

When you say yes to others are you saying 'no' to yourself?

This is often a mistake I have made, and I know I’m not alone.

Imagine the scene: you’re exhausted at the end of another busy day, you already have a ‘to do’ list a mile long, and you are asked to do one more thing – attend a meeting, lead an assembly, prepare a report…

How often do we unthinkingly say yes, when actually it’s adding to an unsustainable burden of responsibilities and tasks.

As a recovering people pleaser, I know how important it is to take stock at these moments.  Do I really need to do this?  Is this request essential at this moment?  Am I the right person to be taking this on?  What if I said no?

Does this resonate with you?  What additional tasks do you find unnecessarily on your plate?

What strategies do you use to avoid becoming overwhelmed by saying yes to requests from others?
