I am currently enroute to Holland. My husband and I enjoy travelling, so we have joined a house-sitting website. We have been lucky enough to visit six lovely areas in the past few months, with our visit to Amerstol in Holland being our seventh house-sit (and first outside of the UK).
We really love house-sitting. It allows us to visit new places, but also to have a home to live in, with all the usual comforts. We also have the pleasure of looking after pets too - I think I've already shared that I love animals. Meanwhile, we arrange to have a house sitter in our home looking after our menagerie.
House-sitting also allows us to work flexibly, as I can carry out much of my work virtually. Perhaps it's our first foray into becoming digital nomads?!?
Today we started our day in Calais, and made the short hop up the coast to Dunkirk. Here we were able to explore the city including the docks, maritime museum and beach. It was fascinating and uplifting to visit to the memorial to Operation Dynamo when 338,000 British and French soldiers were rescued by the brave British owners of small boats, who were able to get right upto the beaches, unlike the Royal Navy ships.
After all that walking, I really deserved an ice-cream. Sorry about my eyes being closed!
